Featuring a resolution of over three megapixels and a 600 candela brightness, the display provides the exceptionally high level of detail needed in medical devices. This panel can display 50 percent more detail than full HD TVs, which have a two-megapixel resolution.

In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology allows this display to show images at wide angles without inverting colors. This is one of the most important features of medical displays, as it allows doctors to work more accurately and trust the images displayed on screen.

LG.Philips LCD plans to begin mass producing this product in the first half of 2008. Those interested in seeing this new 20.8-inch panel in use can visit LG.Philips LCD’s booth (#380) at FPD International in Japan from October 24 to 26, or see it at another of the upcoming trade shows that the company is attending.

Creating higher quality medical displays helps advance medical science. We will develop a full line of medical use displays ranging from one to five megapixels, to provide our customers with the products they need.”

LG.Philips LCD entered the medical display market in 1999 with the rollout of a 15-inch product for reading X-rays. In the third quarter of 2007, the company began supplying a 19-inch display for use in medical diagnostics to a prominent company in Europe. This 19-inch LCD panel is a monochrome display that uses IPS technology to allow for wider viewing angles. The 1280 x 1024 SXGA display provides more than one megapixel of resolutions and it has a brightness of 1,000 candela.
