LG.Philips LCD to Showcase Next-Generation Technologies at FPD 2007

2007-10-22

Seoul, Korea (October 22, 2007) ? LG.Philips LCD Co., Ltd. [NYSE: LPL, KRX: 034220], one of the world’s leading innovators of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, announced today that it will showcase its industry-leading technologies, including its advanced motion blur reduction technologies, an ultra-slim 42-inch LCD TV panel and other highly advanced products at FPD International 2007 booth #380 from October 24 through 26, 2007, at Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center in Japan.

Advanced Performance and Ultra-Slim Full HD LCD TV Panels in the Spotlight
LG.Philips LCD will be demonstrating a number of highly advanced displays that represent the future of LCD TV technology. LG.Philips LCD will showcase its 47-inch wide panel for Full HDTVs, which lowers motion picture response time to 8ms through 120Hz refresh rate technology and copper bus implementation. An advanced performance 47-inch wide panel for Full HDTV boasts an even lower motion picture response time of 6ms by using scanning backlight technology.

LG.Philips LCD is at the forefront environmentally-friendly display products, and has reduced average power consumption by 35 percent over conventional models. The company will highlight its environmentally-friendly technological advances at the exhibition. LG.Philips LCD will also present its 42-inch ultra-slim LCD TV panel ? merely 19.8mm thick.

Brighter Panels for Monitors, Thinner and Lower Power-Consuming Panels for Notebooks
To meet the growing need for high-quality LCD panels in the desktop monitor market for graphic design and video production uses, LG.Philips LCD has developed wider color gamut products, including the world’s largest monitor panel, measuring 30 inches diagonally, as well as a 26-inch model. Both panels boast superior color gamut of 117 percent.

LG.Philips LCD will also be demonstrating 17-inch wide LCD panel for notebooks that boast color gamut of 100 percent using RGB light emitting diode (LED) backlights, as well as a 13.3-inch wide LCD panel that uses up to 20 percent less power than previous models. This panel is also 40 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter, thanks to the usage of white LED backlights instead of conventional cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL).

Small and Medium LCDs with Cutting-Edge Technology
This year, LG.Philips LCD will introduce an extensive range of high performing small and medium-size displays. These range from very small displays for use in mobile phones to ultra-high resolution displays for use in medical devices.

The company’s medium-size displays include a 7-inch widescreen panel for automotive products that features Touch Sensor In Cell technology, which allows the panel to be drastically thinner than other touch screen products by incorporating touch screen technology inside the actual LCD. Additionally, a 2.2-inch IPS LCD display with a transflective setting and a 2.4-inch a-Si TFT-LCD panel with the world’s thinnest border for use in mobile phones will be demonstrated as well.

Display Evolution
At its booth, LG.Philips LCD will also have a special section demonstrating the company’s superior 120Hz refresh rate technology, and promoting the advantages LG.Philips LCD’s IPS-mode panels have in reducing motion blur compared to VA-mode panels. Visitors will be able to compare conventional panels to panels that use LG.Philips LCD’s latest technology, including advancements in IPS-mode 120Hz refresh rate technology, energy efficiency and picture improvement technologies.

Keynote Session
Executive Vice President and Head of Marketing Center, Bock Kwon, will be speaking at a keynote session at 2:30 p.m. on October 24 at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center. Mr. Kwon will discuss current trends in the LCD industry and LG.Philips LCD’s strategies for next generation growth.
