LG.Philips LCD offers special TFT/LCD Screens for industrial Applications

Hanover, March 22, 2001: At CeBIT 2001, LG.Philips LCD Co., Ltd., the joint venture between Royal Philips Electronics and LG Electronics, presents small LCD screens for various special applications in the multimedia, medical, automotive and aerospace markets. Part of its latest range of screens are the LC121S1 as well as the LP104S5. The business to business LC-displays from LG.Philips LCD are extremely slim and lightweight and deliver extremely high resolution despite of their small screen diameters.
In the medical field, special TFT/LCD screens are used in various kinds of medical equipment like cardiac monitors and other patient monitoring systems for surgery and after care. In the automotive industry, special monitors have been developed for shake-proof applications in car navigation systems or for dusty and greasy environments in car repair shops for maintenance and analysis equipment. In the aerospace industry, TFT/LCD monitors are used for different applications in the cockpit for monitoring flight conditions as well as in airports for ticket processing or displaying various information.
The LC121S1 has been designed for use in special internet PC applications for in- and outdoor use. One of its major advantages is its very low power consumption. The screen is just 6.25 mm thick at a diagonal of 12.1 inches. It can display a resolution of 800x600 at an aspect ratio of 4:3. With its 420 grams it fits into many portable and mobile applications.
The LP104S5 has been designed especially for mini notebook and web pad applications. Its screen has a diagonal of only 10.4 inches and a thickness of just 5.7 mm. With a resolution of 800x600, an aspect ratio of 4:3 and 262,144 colors (6 bit), it is the perfect screen for mobile applications. A weight of just 310 grams allows developers to design extremely lightweight notebooks. Even in brighter environments, a luminance of 170 cd/㎡ and a contrast ratio of 200:1 enable a sharp and brilliant picture.<BR /
