LG.Philips LCD taking aggressive action for overseas market

LG.Philips LCD reinforced overseas marketing.
LG.Philips LCD, a joint company between LG and Philips, jumped onto the 2nd top of the world TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) market once the join on Sep. 1999.
On the turn to new millennium, LG.Philips LCD further consolidated its marketing capacity: LG’s technology, Philips’s superior sales networks and marketing know-how. As part of such strategies, LG.Philips LCD held the first exhibition of its products in Taiwan on Jan 13, 1999.
In the exhibition, it built a very close relationship with Taiwanese companies.
Besides the declaration of the vision to be World No.1”, it draw an attention from the Taiwanese press by displaying notebook computers, monitors, and large LCD.
Bruce Berkoff, CMO in charge of LG.Philips LCD marketing announced that the company would be closely related to the Taiwanese notebook and monitor companies after this opportunity and to do so, it will supply various new products to these companies this year.
Next to this exhibition in Taiwan, the company plans to hold exhibitions and displays of its products in U.S.A., Europe, Japan, and others overseas companies within this year. LG. Philips LC forecasts it will grow 36% in sales every year until 2003 and plans to occupy more 20% of the world market share to become World No.1.
The company plans to launch low temperature poly silicon 10.4” for mini-notebook and 14.1” TFT-LCD for thin notebook with weighing less than 425g.
In addition, 15.7” notebook TFT-LCD has already been on shipment.
For monitor TFT-LCD also, it will plan to develop better resolution of 15.1” and 18.1” and large 22” LCD to be launched for a special monitor is expected to bring a major demand in for LCD TV, a new application field, though the price is over 3,000 U.S.
