Industry-university cooperation projects have been alive again since their sharp decline during the IMF period.
A joint project was signed between LG.Philips LCD and School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering of Kyungpook National University on the 12th of the month in Kumi LCD 1 factory.
The main themes are 1) to develop a technology to implement LCD graphic colors by using color-sensor engineering, 2) to improve the mobility of TFT by using a-si:D thin film, 3) to develop a technology of forming TFT-LCD gate insulating film. The projects are expected to proceed over three years.
This project has been established for the purposes of not only developing product-oriented technology, but also securing excellent manpower in advance through educational-industrial cooperation and providing researchers with chances to be related to academic world.
In addition, LG.Philips LCD has been already working with Seoul National University in the sectors of high color-resolution & multi-crystal silicon drive circuit and low-temperature laser doping technology.
Such activities evidences that the frozen school-company cooperation projects after IMF has been melt and actively alive.
Also it is forecasted that brisk co-works will be implemented between the school and the industry in order to develop technologies and foster manpower by which Korea can lead the world market as Korea jumped on the top in TFT-LCD market last year.
