LG Display Unveils Lineup of Cutting-Edge Displays at FPD International 2011
2015-03-27
LG Display, a leading innovator of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, will showcase innovative products that have adopted the latest technology at FPD (Flat Panel Display) International 2011 in Yokohama, Japan from Oct 26 to 28. Packed with a variety of new products, LG Display will reinforce their vision in leading the display industry by taking this progressive step forward.
Among LG Display’s high-end display technologies this year is AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance-In Plane Switching), which is becoming the mainstream technology for mobile devices as consumer need for high resolution displays grows. The company will also let visitors experience the superiority of FPR (Film Patterned Retarder) 3D panel technology in comparison with SG (Shutter Glasses). Also being showcased, there will be industry leading public displays and energy-efficient display technology.
Higher Resolution for Mobile Displays – AH-IPS Technology
LG Display will exhibit its 4.5-inch ultra high resolution AH-IPS display device (329 ppi – pixel per inch, unit for pixel density) in comparison with a 4.3-inch AM OLED display device (217 ppi). LG Display compares two products about four critical factors for display quality – resolution, surface heat, color gamut, and power consumption.
AH-IPS which has been developed to be optimized for mobile devices, becomes particularly valuable when the emphasis is on displaying highly detailed images. The technology also improves display’s color accuracy, which in turn leads to reproduce the original color precisely without color distortion. In addition, it provides greater light transmission which translates into lower power consumption.
Next Generation 3D – FPR 3D Technology
LG Display will also provide a comparison experience between 47-inch FPR 3D TV and 46-inch SG 3D TV.
FPR 3D technology offers clear health benefits over SG 3D technology such as eliminating the main causes of headaches and dizziness – flicker and crosstalk – while offering a FULL HD viewing environment with higher brightness and a higher refresh rate than SG 3D. Also the FPR 3D glasses, which weigh the same as standard glasses, are significantly lighter than SG 3D glasses which require batteries.
Public Display Technology for Information and Advertising
As a leading company in public display market, LG Display unveils the newest 55-inch LCD panels for public display, installing a 165-inch multi-screen display consisting of nine display units in a 3×3 format. The new public display panel comes with the narrowest bezel that creates a 5.3 mm gap (top/left: 3.4 mm, bottom/right: 1.9 mm) between individual panels when displayed alongside each other.
The public display panel is accompanied by LG Display’s 47-inch LED backlight LCD display with 2000nit brightness that is four times brighter than normal TVs, which makes outdoor visibility while preventing blackening.
Enabling Innovative Design
LGD is showcasing ‘Art’ TVs, ‘Blade’ monitors and ‘Shuriken’ for notebook PCs that have adopted ‘Borderless’ technology, which eliminates the border between the frames. These products boast aesthetically slim and light body.
Eco-Friendly Display Products as the Future Technology
LG Display introduces 47-inch FULL HD LCD panel, featuring vertical single side LED backlight technology that offers maximum brightness while consuming less electricity than other LCD TV panels. The newly developed LCD panel achieves the world’s lowest power consumption rate among large LCD panels by dramatically reducing the number of LED lamps used while maintaining a high level of brightness.
Moreover, another panel that decreases accumulated power consumption up to 38% by adopting local dimming technology optimized for Edge-lit LED will be on display.
