SEOUL, South Korea, December 10, 2003-LG.Philips LCD Co., Ltd, one of the world's leading innovators of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, today announced that it has recently set two new production and sales records, as well as maintained its position as the world's number one TFT-LCD manufacturer for the past four quarters*. The company has produced its one-millionth TFT-LCD module at its newly opened Nanjing, China module plant-more than any other TFT-LCD manufacturer in this burgeoning region to date. LG.Philips LCD Sells 10 Million TFT-LCDs for Desktop Monitors
This milestone marks a new industry record-making LG.Philips LCD the first TFT-LCD supplier to sell
10-million TFT-LCDs for one single product category in an 11-month period (January - November 2003). This achievement can be attributed to the company's two fifth-generation production lines "P4," the world's first Gen. 5 factory, which began production in spring 2002, and "P5," the world's third Gen. 5 factory, which began ramping in March 2003. Through early stabilization of its fifth-generation operations, the company has been able to maintain higher production yields than any of its competitors.
