LG.Philips LCD announces record monthly sales exceeding 3 million units

SEOUL, Korea (02 December, 2004) - LG.Philips LCD today announced it has achieved a new record by posting monthly sales volume exceeding three million "large" TFT-LCDs.
During the initial stages of LG.Philips LCD's business in 1996, the Company quickly reached 30,000 large units per month. LG.Philips LCD set two subsequent industry milestones: one million large units in May 2002 and two million large units in September 2003. Thus, monthly unit sales volumes have increased a hundred-fold compared to 1996.
This new record is based in part on LG.Philips LCD's successful ongoing ramp-up of the world's largest sixth generation fabrication plant (P6), as well as its overall manufacturing productivity and strong customer relationships. In addition, this performance is the result of the Company's strategy of successfully targeting the information technology market as well as the consumer electronics market.
