LG.Philips LCD Showcases Latest TFT-LCD Advancements at Fall Comdex 2002

2002-12-03

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, November 11, 2002-LG.Philips LCD Co., Ltd., a leading innovator in thin-film-transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, will showcase its broad portfolio of TFT-LCD products for notebook PC, desktop monitor and LCD TV applications next week during Fall COMDEX 2002 in Las Vegas.

The company will be featuring the following display modules at the show:

30W Wide XGA LCD for HDTVs and Large Information Displays
Developed for today's HDTV market, the 30W boasts a wide viewing angle of 176 degrees, a color saturation of 72 percent, a brightness of 450 cd/㎡ and a resolution of 1280 x 768. In addition to its large screen size and slim form factor (50.9 mm), this display also offers a high contrast ratio (400:1), a fast response time of 12ms and a wide aspect ratio of 15:9.

23W Wide XGA LCD for Monitors and HDTVs
The company's new 23W has a WXGA resolution of 1280 x 768 and a wide viewing angle of 176 degrees in all directions-reducing gray scale inversion and ensuring color integrity, regardless of the viewer'sposition. The 23W's slim design (only 34.5 mm thick) requires less workspace, while the display itself consumes less power, emits lower electromagnetic radiation and lessens end-user eyestrain, compared to a CRT-based solution of similar size.

17W Wide XGA LCD for Desktop Monitors and TVs
LG.Philips LCD's new 17W display is designed for new wide-format PCs, as well as PC TV applications. The wide-format display offers 1280 x 768 resolution, a color saturation of 68 percent, a brightness of 450 cd/m2, and a fast response time of 22ms. Furthermore, it is extremely thin, at only 16.8 mm.

17W Wide XGA LCD for Notebook PCs
LG.Philips LCD's new 17W display can be used for new wide-format notebook PC applications. This display offers 1440 x 900 resolution, a 160 cd/㎡ brightness and a response time of 25ms, allowing viewers to enjoy high-quality moving pictures on the screen. Furthermore, it is extremely thin (6.4 mm) and weighs only 740 grams, making it ideal for the mobile computing market.

20.1-inch UXGA LCD for Desktop Monitors
The new LM201U03 for desktop monitors boasts a high resolution of 1600 x 1200 and a brightness of 250 cd/㎡ . Featuring LG.Philips LCD'sproprietary patented side-mounting technology (shifting screws from the front to the side) makes for the display's competitively slimmer and compact design, which is 25 mm thick. The module also features a contrast ratio of 300:1, a fast response time of 25ms and rigid column spacers to prevent image smearing.

7-inch Wide QVGA LCD for Automotive Entertainment
As the company's first display module designed especially for rear seat automotive entertainment applications, the LB070W01 is a wide-screen LCD that delivers high brightness of 400 cd/㎡ and a contrast ratio of 400:1. Like the LM201U03, the LB070W01 utilizes the company's patented side-mounting technology to provide a thin display that is less than 12 mm thick. It also boasts a viewing angle of 120 degrees (left/right) and 90 degrees (up/down), enabled by using wide-angle polarizer film, and also a wide temperature (suitable for automotive applications) of -20 to 70 degrees Celsius (operating), and -30 to 80 degrees Celsius (storage).

10.4-inch, High Brightness VGA LCD for Industrial, Medical and Electrical Appliances
Weighing only 380 grams, the LP104V2-B1 is a 10.4-inch LCD that requires a low power consumption of only 3.5 watts, making it an ideal solution for industrial and tablet PC applications for factory automation, automatic teller machines (ATMs), as well as medical and electrical instrumentation devices. With a resolution of 640 x 480, an anti-glare treatment of the front polarizer, and a 3H hard coating on the display, this transmissive LCD is durable enough to withstand some of the most rigorous and harshest environments.
