Reduction of pollutant emissions

LG Display has set and managed strict standards at the level of 70% of the legal standard to minimize the environmental impact of local communities due to air and water pollutant emissions. To achieve this standard, we have installed and operated optimal environmental pollution prevention facilities. Especially, LG Display has installed and is operating additional spare facilities in all prevention facilities to properly handle pollutants in the event of a failure of the prevention facilities. In addition to the establishment and operation of a real-time pollutant emission measurement system, portable measurement equipment is also available. Also, LG Display manages to immediately stop discharging and report potential accidents to the agency stipulated by laws and regulations in case of emergency, such as the discharge of pollutants exceeding legal standards due to sudden breakdown of prevention facilities or fire and explosion and makes great efforts to manage pollutants while establishing and operating countermeasures such as cause analysis and corrective measures.

Chemical management system

LG Display responds to the strengthening of domestic regulations related to hazardous chemicals and strives to minimize risks. Strict management is implemented from the review stage before use of chemical substances to the storage, use, and disposal stages. The entire process of handling chemical substances is thoroughly operated through the in-house chemical substance management system. Especially, By selecting 1,227 substances prohibited from being introduced into the city and conducting pre-examination of chemical substances, hazards and risks related to legal regulations are managed even before new chemical substances are entered. LG Display has prepared an immediate response system in case of emergency by frequently sharing the current status of hazardous chemical use with all employees, conducting regular training for handlers, and inspecting storage and handling facilities. In addition, the company has established an over-the-counter impact assessment and risk management plan for chemical accidents to prevent damage minimization by periodically sharing information with residents' councils and local residents in the event of chemical accidents.
