Chemical Substance Management

LG Display operates a chemical substance screening system for all chemical substances brought into its domestic and overseas facilities to verify compliance with relevant laws and internal standards, thereby preventing the purchase of non-compliant products. We verify compliance with the Chemical Substances Control Act and the Act on Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals for imported chemicals through a separate import review system. We also conduct annual training for all chemical suppliers to ensure mandatory compliance with information disclosure regulations. For newly introduced chemicals, we conduct risk assessments to ensure exposure safety, and we designate CMR1) and SVHC2) substances as prohibited substances (Class 1) under our internal standards to prevent environments harmful to workers.

1) CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic): Substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic 2) SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern): Substances identified under the EU REACH Regulation as highly hazardous chemicals

Pollutant Emission Management

LG Display treats all chemical substances and water pollutants generated at its business sites through internal wastewater treatment facilities, with all treated wastewater subsequently discharged to public treatment plants. To minimize environmental impact, we enforce discharge concentration standards for water pollutants that are stricter than those required by law. Additionally, to reduce air pollutant emissions from production processes, we install and operate optimized environmental pollution prevention systems. To ensure effective pollutant treatment even in the event of equipment failure, backup systems are installed and maintained for all prevention facilities. We also make continuous investments in process enhancements and equipment upgrades to further improve the efficiency of air pollutant management.
