PR LG Display Achieves Display Panel Industry’s First Certification from TÜV Rheinland for Product Carbon Footprint Methodology
SEOUL, Korea (April XX, 2025) – LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that it has become the display panel industry’s first company to receive certification from TÜV Rheinland, a leading global independent testing, inspection and certification body for its Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculation method.
This certification is awarded to companies that have established systems capable of quantitatively calculating greenhouse gas emissions across their entire product life cycle in accordance with international standards.
To address rising demand for low-carbon products and increasing certification requests, LG Display proactively developed a product carbon footprint evaluation system based on the ISO 14067 international standard. It not only includes essential criteria such as data collection, calculation, and validation methods but also applies in-house evaluation methodology optimized for displays.
In addition, the company independently developed an IT system for carbon footprint assessments. As it integrates data from existing product development processes, this system allows users to easily calculate a carbon footprint by simply entering basic product information, without the need for further data.
Through this certification, LG Display has demonstrated its ability to manage carbon emissions transparently and systematically. The company aims to strengthen its environmentally friendly product competitiveness while responding proactively to the demands of global customers and other key stakeholders.
"This certification is a meaningful achievement that demonstrates the global credibility of our eco-friendly product management system," said Jeong-ki Park, Senior Vice President and Head of the Medium Display Development Group at LG Display. "We will continue to focus on developing various technologies to drive transparent ESG management based on quantitative data."

PR LG Display Reports First Quarter 2025 Results
LG Display recorded KRW 6.065 trillion in revenues and KRW 33.5 billion in operating profit in the first quarter of 2025.
The company's consecutive operating profit from the previous quarter underscored its efforts to enhance its core capabilities centered around its OLED business, which paid off despite the fact that the first quarter usually sees slow seasonality.
Revenues increased by 15% year-on-year as shipments of OLED panels for TV, IT and mobile devices increased as well as due to favorable exchange rate effects. The proportion of OLED products driving total revenues increased by 8%p year-on-year to reach 55%.
In terms of profitability, LG Display’s second straight quarter of operating profit came as it continued to conduct intensive cost reduction and operational efficiency activities in addition to its expanded OLED-centered business performance. Compared to the same period last year, the company’s profitability was improved by more than KRW 500 billion as it achieved a successful turnaround.
TV panels accounted for 22% of revenues in the first quarter, while those for IT devices including monitors, laptops, and tablet PCs accounted for 35%. Panels for mobile and other devices accounted for 34% and automobile panels accounted for 9% of revenues.
LG Display plans to focus on its capabilities to maintain a stable profit structure by strengthening its business competitiveness through focusing on OLED, while continuously pursuing cost innovation and operational efficiency.
In its small- and mid-sized OLED business, the company aims to further solidify its position in the high-end market based on its technological competitiveness. For mobile OLEDs, LG Display plans to enhance key competitiveness factors such as quality and cost, backed by stable supply capabilities, to expand shipments. As for OLED for IT products, it seeks to strengthen its technological leadership based on Tandem OLED, which offers superior durability and performance, including low power consumption, long lifespan, and high brightness. At the same time, the company will continue to improve profitability by offering optimized products tailored to customer needs in each product segment, leveraging differentiated high-end LCD technologies such as IPS Black and next-generation Oxide.
With regard to its large-sized OLED business, LG Display can place a greater focus on advancing its OLED-centered business structure as the sale of its large-sized LCD plant in Guangzhou is now complete. The company plans to expand its portfolio of differentiated products - such as 4th-generation OLED TV panels and gaming monitors optimized for the AI era - through close collaboration with global customers. By continuously pursuing actual demand-linked operational strategies and cost innovation, LG Display aims to achieve qualitative growth that enhances profitability in the mid to long term, alongside quantitative expansion.
As for its automotive display business, the company aims to bolster its position as the global leader by leveraging a differentiated product and technology portfolio, including Tandem-based P-OLED, Advanced Thin OLED (ATO), and high-end LTPS LCD. It plans to establish a stable profit structure while achieving continuous growth.
“Although external uncertainties persist, the results of our focus on strengthening fundamental competitiveness are beginning to materialize,” said Sung-hyun Kim, CFO and Executive Vice President of LG Display. Kim added, “We will continue to advance our business structure and improve operational efficiency in order to achieve an annual turnaround and expand the scale of our profits."

PR LG Display Earns Industrys First UL Solutions Eyesafe Verification for TVs and Monitors
SEOUL, Korea (March 25, 2025) – LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that its entire lineup of OLED panels for TVs and monitors, have earned UL Solutions Eyesafe Verification, meeting Eyesafe® Display Requirements 3.0.
These requirements are developed by Eyesafe, an international authority in blue light management, in collaboration with leading eye care professionals, and verified by a global leader in applied safety science, UL Solutions. The verification confirms that displays maintain color accuracy and reduce blue light emissions.
While previous Eyesafe certifications were based solely on the proportion of blue light emitted by a display in the range of 435-440 nanometers (nm), the new criteria provide a more comprehensive measure for human-friendly displays by including the potential impact of blue light on circadian rhythms, including melatonin secretion, which affects sleep.
To obtain this verification, a display must offer color reproduction of at least 90% based on the DCI-P3 standard, as well as meeting a minimum score of 35 for Circadian Protection Factor (CPF), which assesses the level of blue light emissions at peak wavelengths 480-500 nm, and Radiance Protection Factor (RPF®), which measures the level of blue light emissions at peak wavelengths 435-440 nm.
All OLED panels mass-produced by LG Display have achieved industry-leading scores of CPF 60 and RPF 40, comfortably meeting the Eyesafe Display Requirements 3.0 as verified by UL Solutions. These scores are comparable to screen protection films applied to monitors and mobile phones, demonstrating how far the company has minimized the potential impact of its displays on eye health and sleep.
“UL Solutions’ Marketing Claim Verification process is designed to give consumers confidence in product claims,” said Todd Denison, senior vice president of Global Regions at UL Solutions. “By validating advertising and promotional statements, UL Solutions helps consumers distinguish between verified facts and unsubstantiated claims. This objective, science-driven assessment process that uses Eyesafe requirements is crucial in today’s market, where consumers are increasingly concerned about the potential health effects of prolonged screen time.”
Last year, LG Display demonstrated through a clinical trial with a Kookmin University research team that watching Mini LED TV panels in the evening led to a 2.7% decrease in melatonin secretion among subjects, compared to an 8.1% increase among those watching OLED TVs.
In addition to reducing blue light, the company's OLED TV and monitor panels already gained a reputation for human-friendliness by earning Flicker-Free and Reflection-Free certifications from leading global certification agencies.
"This verification by an objective and reliable institution signifies that we have set a new standard for customers to choose human-friendly displays," said Soo-young Yoon, CTO and Executive Vice President of LG Display. He added, “LG Display will continue to provide differentiated customer value through our relentless efforts and innovation."

PR LG Display Begins Mass Production of Ultra-large Automotive Display Solutions to Revolutionize Driving Experience
SEOUL, Korea (February 24, 2025) – LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that it has officially begun mass production of the industry's first 40-inch Pillar to Pillar (P2P) automotive display. The company is accelerating its push into the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) era by scaling up the production of premium automotive display solutions with the goal of revolutionizing the driving experience.
A P2P display is an ultra-large automotive panel that fully covers the area in front of the driver's and front passenger's seats.
The performance of an SDV, which is controlled by software to enhance driving convenience, requires the installation of large displays that make it easy to see a variety of information and control vehicle functions. As a result, the ultra-large P2P solution is gaining attention as a next-generation mobility display.
LG Display is ramping up its SDV strategy through the mass production of its 40-inch P2P, which offers a personalized infotainment experience for both the driver and passengers. It raises user convenience by allowing the simultaneous display of advanced infotainment functions, from a digital dashboard and navigation to climate control, movies, music, and even games - all without screen transitions.
As a result, this ultra-large display enables immediate access to varied information and easy control of vehicle functions without limitations, as opposed to previous automotive displays where navigation instructions might disappear or shrink when accessing other functions like climate control or music.
Switchable Privacy Mode (SPM) viewing angle control technology has also been applied to help the driver stay focused on the road. SPM, which LG Display was the first in the industry to commercialize, allows the front passenger to watch movies or play games on the display in front of them even as it remains invisible from the driver's seat.
As viewing angle control technology has emerged as a key safety feature amid the trend toward larger automotive displays, LG Display's SPM is distinguished by achieving ultra-high-definition resolution while still controlling the viewing angle.
In addition, local dimming technology has been applied for the first time, reducing heat generation and power consumption. This further increases the driving efficiency of next-generation mobility options such as electric vehicles.
The innovative design potential of future mobility is also maximized as physical buttons are minimized and various functions can be controlled via the ultra-large display.
The company’s 40-inch P2P will be installed in the Afeela, the first sedan from Japanese joint venture Sony Honda Mobility. The Afeela is a next-generation electric vehicle that combines Sony’s advanced IT and entertainment technologies with Honda’s expertise in vehicle manufacturing. The ultra-large display is expected to maximize AI-based driver assistance systems and various entertainment functions.
"Based on our industry-leading proprietary technology, outstanding product competitiveness, and stable supply capabilities, we will continue to present innovative solutions that provide differentiated customer value in the SDV era.” said Keuk-sang Kwon, Head of Auto Business Group at LG Display.
